John Gordon -- White House
Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor

Prior to his current appointment, John Gordon was Deputy Assistant to the President, National Director and Deputy National Security Advisor for Combating Terrorism at the National Security Council. Before joining the White House staff, John was Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration and Under Secretary of Energy. From 1997 until 2000, he served as Deputy Director of Central Intelligence. Previously, John was a senior member of the Secretary of Defense’s staff, and later, the director of operations, Air Force Space Command. He also served as special assistant to the Air Force chief of staff for long-range planning. During President George H. W. Bush’s Administration, John was a special assistant to the President for national security affairs and senior director for defense policy and arms control. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri, and holds a Master of Science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Masters in Management degree from New Mexico Highlands University. John is a retired four-star general with more than 30 years of active service in the U. S. Air Force.
