Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel

President George W. Bush named Joie Gregor Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel in October 2007. She is responsible for the recruitment and recommendation of senior level appointments in the Bush Administration. These include all political appointees throughout the Executive Branch, including Cabinet, Sub-Cabinet, and Ambassadorial posts, as well as Presidential Boards and Commissions. Prior to joining the President’s senior staff, Ms. Gregor served as Vice Chairman of the executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, Inc. Joining as a Partner in 1993, she served in a number of senior leadership roles, including President, North America, Managing Partner of the firm's Global Board of Directors Practice, and Managing Partner of the New York office. She also served as a member of the firm's Management Committee. While at Heidrick, Ms. Gregor was responsible for building high performance leadership teams, including the assessment and recruitment of Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operational Officers, and Board Members for major public and private companies. She is listed among the “Top 200 Executive Recruiters” in the world in The Global 200 Executive Recruiters, a ranking compiled by executive search industry expert Nancy Garrison-Jenn. Prior to her work in executive search, Ms. Gregor was with the IBM Corporation, where she held a variety of management positions of increasing responsibility over a 13-year period. A native of rural Ohio, Ms. Gregor holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado and a M.A. from Case Western Reserve University, where she serves as a Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and is also a member of the Executive Committee. In addition, Ms. Gregor was an IBM Sloan Fellow at Stanford University, where she received an M.S. in Management. She is also a member of the LPGA Commissioner’s Advisory Council. Upon naming her Director of Presidential Personnel, President Bush remarked, “Joie is one of the Nation's top executive recruiters. Her considerable experience will be an asset to my Administration, and I am pleased that Joie is joining the White House team.”
