David C. Liner -- Peace Corps
Chief of Staff

David C. Liner was appointed Chief of Staff/Chief of Operations of the Peace Corps in October of 2006 after serving as Acting Chief of Staff/Chief of Operations since May of 2006. He joined the Peace Corps as the Deputy Chief of Staff in August of 2005. Prior to the Peace Corps, David served as the Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau of Legislative and Public Affairs of the U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID). In that capacity, David managed all aspects of the legislative process, including appropriations, testimony, hearings, and nominations. He has also worked in the Office of the Clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives, and has owned and managed a regional telecommunications company. In the mid-1980s and early 1990s, he worked in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs at USAID. David moved to Washington, DC, in 1974, from Chattanooga, TN, to work for former Senator Howard Baker. He also worked 5 years on the Senate floor after Senator Baker became minority leader in 1977. David has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in political science and history.
