Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Acquisition

From 1991 until his current appointment, John Young was with the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, first as a Sandia National Labs Congressional Fellow from 1991 to 1993 and then as a Professional Staff Member from 1993 until 2001. From 1988 to 1993, he was a member of the Technical Staff of Sandia National Labs, and from 1987 to 1988 he was a member of the technical staff at Rockwell International. John is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and received a Master's degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University.
