Coordinator, International Information Programs |
Alexander Feldman was appointed Coordinator of the Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) on June 14, 2004. The Coordinator is the rank equivalent of a U.S. Assistant Secretary of State.
IIP is the principal U.S. Government organization responsible for informing, engaging and influencing international audiences about U.S. policy and society. The bureau has over 370 full-time staff and contractors specializing in all geographic regions of the world and thematic subjects in the State Departments portfolio.
Mr. Feldman joins the Department of State with extensive experience as an international media executive in TV, radio, and the Internet. For the past 11 years, he has lived outside the U.S., residing in Hong Kong, Singapore, and London, and working throughout Europe and Asia. He has worked for some of the worlds largest media companies, including NBC Universal, News Corporation, and Viacom.
Prior to joining the Department of State, Mr. Feldman served as Vice President of Affiliate Sales for CNBC Asia Pacific and was a member of its executive management committee. He was responsible for distribution of CNBCs television channels and syndication of its programming throughout the Asia-Pacific region. He also was responsible for the launch and distribution of the MGM movie channel--a partnership with MGM Networks--in greater China and southeast Asia, and oversaw CNBCs foray into new media, launching their first mobile and streaming media ventures.
Previous to that role, Mr. Feldman held key positions overseas, including CCBNs Managing Director for Europe, responsible for CCBNs operations, sales, and marketing throughout Europe and its expansion in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He also founded B2Bcast.com, a webcasting company, where he served as President and CEO. Additionally, Mr. Feldman has served as Director, Network Development for MTV Asia, and also worked for News Corporations STAR TV. At the start of his career, Mr. Feldman served as a Special Assistant to the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for International Economic Policy in Washington, DC.
Mr. Feldman received his B.A. in International Business Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. |
