Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade

Before his appointment as Under Secretary of Commerce, Ambassador Lavin served as U.S. Ambassador to Singapore. Ambassador Lavin previously worked for Citibank and Bank of America as a banker and venture capitalist in Hong Kong and Singapore. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia and the Pacific at the Department of Commerce. He received his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University. He also received master's degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown University and the University of Pennsylvania.
