Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Public Liaison

Ms. Keenum most recently served as Assistant Secretary for Trade Promotion and Director General of the United States Foreign Commercial Service, where she managed operations dedicated to assistant American companies to export and succeed in global markets. Prior to her service at the United States and Foreign Commercial Service, Ms. Keenum served as a Senior Vice President at Edelman Worldwide in Washington, D.C., a full-service international public relations firm. At Edelman, she managed the Political Outreach Division, which conceives and executes strategic advocacy efforts on behalf of clients. In that capacity, Ms. Keenum was the primary day-to-day manager of Edelman's largest worldwide account, and utilized her extensive managerial, legislative and political experience to successfully represent corporate and trade associations before the Administration, Congress, Governors, State Legislatures and the news media. From 1997 to 2000, Ms. Keenum served as a Vice President/Group Manager for Ketchum Worldwide, in Washington, D.C., where she managed Ketchum Washington's largest account. At Ketchum, she created a high visibility national coalition to help reform long term care financing utilizing an extensive national grassroots mobilization and public education effort in Washington and in key states. In the national political realm, Ms. Keenum served as the Director of the Surrogate Operations Program for Victory 2000 for the Republican National Committee (RNC) in Washington, D.C. She also directed the National Surrogate Operations for Dole for President in 1996. In 1995, Ms. Keenum served as Press Secretary for U.S. Representative Roger Wicker (R-MS-1), supervising media and outreach efforts in the Congressman's Washington, D.C. and district offices. From 1993 to 1995, Ms. Keenum served as the Deputy Director for Convention and Meetings at the Republican National Committee (RNC) in Washington, D.C. In this role, Ms. Keenum coordinated all national support and services on behalf of the RNC's 165 national committee members, managed key elements of RNC annual meetings, and initiated the site selection process for cities competing to host the quadrennial presidential nominating convention. Ms. Keenum is a native of Booneville, Mississippi and a graduate of Mississippi State University. She resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, Mark.
