Valerie Baldwin -- Department of Defense
Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller)

Ms. Baldwin is a native of Liberal, Kansas, where her mother, Annette Lemert Larrabee, still resides. Her father, Chuck Baldwin, lives in Wichita. Ms. Baldwin received her bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University, a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and a juris doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. From 1996 until her July 23 appointment as Assistant Secretary, Ms. Baldwin was a professional staff member of the House Appropriations Committee, most recently in the position of Staff Director for the Military Construction Subcommittee. She also served as a staff assistant on the appropriations subcommittee charged with veterans’ affairs, housing and urban development and independent agencies. Between 1993 and 1996, Ms. Baldwin was legislative counsel to the House Financial Services Housing Subcommittee. Prior to 1993, she served as a trial attorney at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and as a legislative assistant on the staffs of Sen. Nancy Landon Kassebaum and Sen. John Glenn.
