Director of the Office of Management and Budget

Prior to joining the Administration, Mitch Daniels served as the senior vice president of corporate strategy and policy for the Eli Lilly and Company. Previously, he served as the company's president of North American pharmaceutical operations. From 1971 to 1982, Mr. Daniels served Richard Lugar, then Indianapolis Mayor and now U.S. Senator, in various capacities including chief of staff. Under Lugar's chairmanship, he served as executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 1983 to 1984. In the Reagan Administration, he served as an Assistant to the President and as the administration's liaison to the nation's state and local officials. He was named president and chief executive officer of the Hudson Institute in 1987. Mr. Daniels has a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a law degree from Georgetown University.
