Rick A. Dearborn -- Department of Energy
Assistant Secretary for Congress and Intergovermental Affairs

On October 9th, 2003, Mr. Dearborn took the oath of office as Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs of the United States Department of Energy from Secretary Spencer Abraham. Mr. Dearborn previously served as Legislative Director for Senator Jeff Sessions, Republican from Alabama. Mr. Dearborn began his career in politics working for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in 1988. He worked in both the Finance and Political divisions of the NRSC for three years. He continued his career serving as Deputy Staff Director for the Secretary of the Senate Republican Conference to former Senator Robert Kasten (R-WI), a position he remained in for Senator Trent Lott (R-MS). Mr. Dearborn left Capitol Hill in 1993 to serve as the Director of Congressional Relations for the U.S. Senate at the Heritage Foundation for three years. In 1996, Mr. Dearborn returned to Capitol Hill to serve as Executive Director of the Senate Steering Committee before beginning his tenure with Senator Sessions in 1997. Rick A. Dearborn, native of Edmond, Oklahoma, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, Norman. Currently, he is a resident of Alexandria, Virginia.
