Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Institutions

From 1981 until his current appointment, Wayne Abernathy served with the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Most recently, he was the Republican Staff Director, and from 1999 to 2001 he was the Committee Staff Director. His other positions include Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Securities and Economist to both the Committee and to the Subcommittee on International Finance and Monetary Policy. Wayne received a Bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Master's degree from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins.
