Inspector General of the Peace Corps

Most recently, Charles Smith was the general counsel of the United States Institute of Peace. From 1983 to 1986, he was associate editor of the immigration law report, "Interpreter Releases." From 1979 to 1982, he was on the staffs of three federal study commissions, and from 1973 to 1977 he was staff attorney at the Center for Criminal Justice, Boston University School of Law. Charles was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia from 1964 to 1966. He is a graduate of Oberlin College, and he received an M.A. from Washington University and a J.D. from Boston University.
