Appointee Directory View:   Mike Smith -- Department of Energy Assistant Secretary of Energy for Fossil Energy Mike Smith served as Oklahoma Secretary of Energy from 1995 to 2001. As Oklahoma's Energy Secretary, he was a member of numerous boards and commissions, including the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission and the Southern States Energy Board. Mike served as a member of the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board from 1992 to 1994 and was a member of the Oklahoma Legislative Interim Task Force on Environmental Regulation from 1991 to 1992. A former member of the U.S. Army, he received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Oklahoma. 202-586-6660
