Appointee Directory View:   Ashish Sen -- Department of Transportation Director of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics Prior to becoming Director, Ashish Sen served as Director of the Urban Transportation Center at the University of Illinois in Chicago. From 1978 until 1998, he also served as Professor of Urban Planning and as Professor of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at the University. From 1969 until 1978, he held various positions within the College of Urban Sciences, such as Acting Dean and Director of the School of Urban Sciences. Ashish received his school certificate from St. Xavier's College in Calcutta, India and his B.S. in mathematics from Calcutta University. He received his M.A. in mathematics and his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Toronto. 202-366-1270
