Assistant Secretary of Education for Intergovernmental & Interagency Affairs

Prior to her appointment, Laurie Rich was Executive Director of the Texas Office of State-Federal Relations. From 1985 to 1995, Rich served U.S. Senator Phil Gramm (R-Texas) as a special assistant and senior legislative assistant. Also during that time, she served as deputy director of coalitions for the Bush/Quayle '92 campaign and as the acting administrative assistant to U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), following her special election in 1993. She is a graduate of North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, in Denton.
