Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business & Agricultural Affairs

Since joining the Department of State in 1973, Alan Larson has served in senior positions dealing with economics, trade, finance, energy, sanctions, transportation and telecommunications. From 1990 to 1993, he was U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris. He also served in the economic sections of the U.S. embassies in Jamaica, Zaire and Sierra Leone. Alan has B.A., M.A., and Ph.D degrees from the University of Iowa.
