Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Management

Prior to her current appointment, Janet Hale served as the Assistant Secretary for Budget, Technology and Finance for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and as chief financial officer and chief information officer. Previously, she was the Associate Administrator for Finance for the House of Representatives and the Associate Director for Economics and Government at the Office of Management and Budget. She has also served as the Assistant Secretary for Budget and Programs at the U.S. Department of Transportation, and as the Acting Assistant Secretary of Housing at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In addition, Janet was a Vice President with the U.S. Telephone Association and Executive Vice President for the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Miami University and received a Master's in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
