Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research

Prior to his current appointment, Carl Ford was the President of Ford and Associates, a consulting firm specializing in Asia and the Middle East. He served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Near East and Asian Affairs concurrently from 1991 to 1993. From 1989 to 1991, he served concurrently as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asia and Pacific Affairs. He was a professional staff member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 1979 to 1985 and is a former member of the CIA. Carl is a veteran of the United States Army and received both his undergraduate and Master's degree from Florida State University.
