United States Alternate Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank

In 2005, Jan E. Boyer was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the US Senate as United States Alternate Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank. Mr. Boyer has 20 years’ experience in international finance and entrepreneurship. He had chief executive responsibility for private equity initiatives at Softbank, FleetBoston, and Salomon Smith Barney, with activities in seven countries. He has substantial operating, restructuring, and turnaround experience in growth and mature companies. While at Lehman Brothers, Mr. Boyer worked on principal investing, merger and acquisition, corporate finance, and government advisory transactions in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. He has also served on both corporate and nonprofit boards. Mr. Boyer’s experience in Washington includes his service at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) as Senior Advisor to the President, as a Visiting Fellow in International Finance and Emerging Markets at the Institute for International Economics (IIE), full-time participation in two US presidential campaigns, and working for the US Senate. Mr. Boyer has lived outside the United States for most of his life and is fluent in five languages. He received his bachelor’s degrees from Stanford University (economics and international relations) and his master’s degree from Harvard University.
