POSITION: Student Assistant

DUTY LOCATION: Washington, D.C.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is currently recruiting for a student assistant position in the Legislative Reference Division. Participants in this program are typically undergraduate students. They may work up to 30 hours per week, and full-time during the summer and school breaks. Interested students must: (1) be enrolled at least half-time as a degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university; (2) be a U.S. citizen; and (3) undergo a background security investigation.

The annual salary range is from GS-2 ($17,005) to GS-4 ($20,829). Grade is determined by years completed in school (i.e., seniors qualify as a GS-4) and any other qualifying experience. Students in this program are eligible to receive up to $65 per month for commuting expenses through the public transportation subsidy program. Students also earn annual and sick leave.

The Legislative Reference Division coordinates the Administration's position on legislation. They also coordinate the review and clearance of the Administration's legislative proposals and statements on bills progressing through Congress.

Major Duties: The student assistant will perform general administrative support such as: (1) utilizing computer applications (E-mail, Word, WordPerfect, Lotus Notes) to assist in work accomplishment. Classes are provided to learn computer applications used. There is considerable opportunity in this assignment for an individual to sharpen his/her existing computer-related skills; (2) delivering and picking up materials within the EOP complex or to/from Capitol Hill (via shuttle bus or taxi); (3) photocopying, faxing and filing a variety of materials; and (4) answering telephones.
