OMB RELEASES THE PRESIDENT’S BLUEPRINT FOR NEW BEGINNINGS

On Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at 10:15 a.m., the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) will release the President’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2002.

Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., Director of the Office of Management and Budget, will hold a press briefing in Room 450 of the Eisenhower (Old) Executive Office Building. Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill and Lawrence Lindsey, Director of the National Economic Council, will also be in attendance for questions following the briefing.

Members of the White House Press Corps who plan to attend the briefing should be in the White House Lower Press Lobby no later than 10 a.m. For reporters who do not have White House press badges please call the White House Press Office for clearance at (202) 456-2580 or the OMB Communications Office at (202) 395-7254.

Distribution of the budget document, to members of the press displaying official press credentials, will occur from 8 to 10 a.m., on February 28, at the Government Printing Office (GPO). OMB will provide one free copy of the document per news organization. The document will be fully embargoed until the briefing, at 10:15 a.m., is completed.

Members of the press may purchase additional copies of the budget document between 8 and 10 a.m., from the GPO Bookstore. Members of the public may purchase the budget document from GPO after 11 a.m.
