Office of Management and Budget
News Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2001-41

Washington, DC, October 4, 2001 -- Office of Management and Budget Director Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. issued today the following quote in response to the plan issued today by the Chairman and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Budget Committees.

"This is a very constructive contribution. The House and Senate Budget Committee leaders are the fiscal conscience of the Congress. They have come very carefully to the conclusion that additional stimulus is needed and responsible. This bi-partisan effort has helped shape the Administration’s view and should offer confidence to other members and the public that aggressive action on the economy can be taken consistent with long-term fiscal discipline."
