FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE2001-03

OMB Praises House Budget Committee Passage of Budget Resolution

Washington, DC, March 22, 2001 Office of Management and Budget Director Mitch Daniels issued the following statement in response to the House Budget Committee’s passage of the FY 2002 budget resolution:

The Committee’s passage of the budget resolution is a critical first step in bringing President Bush’s budget to fruition. I commend Chairman Nussle’s leadership in developing this responsible budget and bringing it to a vote in a timely manner.

This budget resolution calls for record reduction in the federal debt, meets the funding priorities outlined in the President’s budget, moderates the growth in spending, and embraces the tax relief proposed by the President.

We look forward to working with the Budget Committee and the Congress to make these priorities law.
