Description: The South Carolina Judicial Department (SCJD) will use their FY 2005 Congressional Earmark to continue their court modernization effort through the incorporation of technologies. The areas that are being addressed as part of this funding will be the continued improvement of infrastructure in all forty-six counties in South Carolina; the deployment of the case management system (CMS) statewide; web technologies that enhance the ability of judicial and criminal justice personnel accessibility to needed information that is timely and secure; the development of an XML interface compliant with the Global Justice XML that can readily interface with other criminal justice agencies to readily exchange electronic data; the development of statistical management and reporting systems; implementation of technology to improve security within the judicial systems (both physical and information security); and the implementation of an Appellate case management system that improves the timeliness and the efficiency of the State Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.
