ABSTRACT: The Office of Management and Budget maintains paper files for the offices that compose OMB and carry out OMB’s responsibilities. OMB is composed of (1) the Director’s office, which includes the Director, the Deputy Director, the Deputy Director for Management, and the Executive Associate Director; (2) Staff Offices, which include the Offices of Administration, Communications, Economic Policy, General Counsel, and Legislative Affairs; (3) Offices that provide OMB-wide support, which include the Divisions of Legislative Reference and Budget Review; (4) Resources Management Offices that develop and support the President’s management and budget policies in the areas of General Government Programs, Human Resources Programs, National Security Programs, and Natural Resource Programs; and (5) Statutory Offices, which include the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Office of Federal Financial Management, and Office of E-Government and Information Technology.

These paper files are maintained at OMB’s offices in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the New Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C., as well as at the Federal Records Center in Suitland, Maryland. These paper files include documents created with wordprocessing, spreadsheet, email, and other software.

PURPOSE: The files are created and maintained to assist OMB officials and staff in carrying out OMB’s budgetary, legislative, general management, procurement policy, information and regulatory policy, financial management, and e-government and information technology policy activities.
