Errata Sheet for the Lists of Areas in the
Attachment to OMB Bulletin 03-04

List 3 Micropolitan Statistical Areas

The list of micropolitan statistical areas originally published on June 6, 2003 in the attachment to OMB Bulletin 03-04 erroneously listed Easton, MD as the principal city of the East Stroudsburg, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area and East Stroudsburg, PA as the principal city of the Easton, MD Micropolitan Statistical Area. Easton and East Stroudsburg each are principal cities of the micropolitan statistical area bearing the same name. This error was corrected in a revised list posted to OMB’s website on June 9, 2003.

List 4 Combined Statistical Areas

The North Vernon, IN Micropolitan Statistical Area was omitted as a component of the Indianapolis-Anderson-Columbus, IN Combined Statistical Area.

As a result, the correct number of component areas within the 116 Combined Statistical Areas in the United States and Puerto Rico is 315.

List 5 Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas, Metropolitan Divisions, and Combined Statistical Areas by State

The code for the Boston-Quincy, MA Metropolitan Division was erroneously listed as 14464. The correct code is 14484.

The code for the San Juan-Caguas-Fajardo, PR Combined Statistical Area was erroneously listed as 498. The correct code is 490.

The title of the Rockingham County-Strafford County Metropolitan Division within the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, MA-NH Metropolitan Statistical Area listed under the New Hampshire section of list 5 erroneously omitted the word “County” after both county names.

The entry for the Newark-Union, NJ-PA Metropolitan Division (code: 35084) under both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania sections of list 5 should have included the word “(part)”.

List 6 New England City and Town Areas and Components

The minor civil division type was incorrectly listed for the following areas:

  • Old Town city in the Bangor, ME Metropolitan NECTA was erroneously listed as Old Town town;
  • Success township in the Berlin, NH Micropolitan NECTA was erroneously listed as Success town;
  • Woburn city in the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, MA-NH NECTA Division within the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, MA-NH Metropolitan NECTA was erroneously listed as Woburn town;
  • Westbrook city in the Portland-South Portland, ME Metropolitan NECTA was erroneously listed as Westbrook town.

The following entities were omitted from the components of the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, MA-NH NECTA Division within the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, MA-NH Metropolitan NECTA: Dover town, Foxborough town, and Franklin city in Norfolk County.

List 7 Combined New England City and Town Areas

The list of components within the Bridgeport-New Haven-Stamford, CT Combined NECTA, included the erroneously titled area: “New Haven-Milford, CT Metropolitan New England City and Town Area.” The correct title should be “New Haven, CT Metropolitan New England City and Town Area.”
