Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his Administration.
The President intends to nominate Joseph A. Benkert, of Virginia, to be Assistant Secretary of Defense (Global Security Affairs). Mr. Benkert currently serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Security Affairs. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Director of the Defense Reconstruction Support Office for Iraq in Washington, D.C. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy and Chief of Operations for the Coalition Provisional Authority in the Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Benkert received his bachelor's degree from the United States Naval Academy and his master's degree from Harvard University.
The President intends to nominate Carol Dillon Kissal, of Maryland, to be Inspector General of the Small Business Administration. Ms. Kissal currently serves as Deputy Director of Resource Management at the District of Columbia Department of Transportation. Prior to this, she served as Corporate Treasurer of Amtrak. Earlier in her career, she served as a Program Financial Analyst at IBM. Ms. Kissal received her bachelor's degree from Dominican College and her master's degree from Pace University.
