Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate four individuals to serve in his Administration.
The President intends to nominate two individuals to serve on the part of the United States of the International Joint Commission (United States and Canada): Irene B. Brooks, of Pennsylvania, Chairman; Samuel W. Speck, of Ohio, Commissioner.
The President intends to nominate Robert G. McSwain, of Maryland, to be Director of the Indian Health Service within the Public Health Service at the Department of Health and Human Services for a four-year term. Mr. McSwain currently serves as Deputy Director of the Indian Health Service at the Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to this, he served as Director of the Office of Management Support in the Indian Health Service at the Department of Health and Human Services. Earlier in his career, he served as Program Director of Central Valley Indian Health, Inc. Mr. McSwain is a Tribal Citizen of the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians. He received his associate's degree from Fresno City College, his bachelor's degree from California State University, and his master's degree from the University of Southern California.
The President intends to nominate Deanna Tanner Okun, of Idaho, to be Deputy United States Trade Representative (with the rank of Ambassador). Ms. Okun currently serves as Commissioner of the United States International Trade Commission. Prior to this, she served as Chairman of the United States International Trade Commission. Earlier in her career, she served as Counsel for International Affairs to Senator Frank Murkowski. Ms. Okun received her bachelor's degree from Utah State University and her JD from Duke University School of Law.
