Statement by the Press Secretary
On October 16, 2007, the President signed into law:
S. 474, which provides for the presentation of a congressional gold medal to Dr. Michael Ellis DeBakey,
S.1612, the "International Emergency Economic Powers Enhancement Act," which increases civil and criminal penalties for violations of economic sanctions imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Enhancement Act.
