Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his decision to nominate five individuals and designate one individual to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Joseph Timothy Kelliher, of the District of Columbia, to be a Member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for an additional five-year term expiring June 30, 2012 and redesignate Chairman. Mr. Kelliher currently serves as Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Prior to this, he served as Senior Policy Advisor at the Department of Energy. Earlier in his career, he served as Of Counsel of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. Mr. Kelliher received his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and his JD from the American University.

The President intends to designate Kerri Layne Briggs, of Virginia, to be Acting Assistant Secretary of Education for Elementary and Secondary Education and nominate her to be Assistant Secretary of Education for Elementary and Secondary Education. Dr. Briggs currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development in the Department of Education. Prior to this, she served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Deputy Secretary at the Department of Education. Earlier in her career, she served as Director of Evaluation at the University of Texas. Dr. Briggs received her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and her master's and PhD from the University of Southern California.

The President intends to nominate the following individuals to be Members of the National Museum and Library Sciences Board for the remainder of five-year terms expiring December 6, 2011:

Douglas G. Myers, of California

Jeffrey Patchen, of Indiana

Lotsee Patterson, of Oklahoma
