Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced that he has named Raul F. Yanes to be Assistant to the President and Staff Secretary. Mr. Yanes currently serves as General Counsel in the Office of Management and Budget. He previously served as Senior Counselor to the Attorney General at the Department of Justice. From 2003 until 2005, he was an Associate Counsel to the President at the White House.
"Raul has a sharp legal mind and a keen sense of judgment. He's earned a reputation for fairness, candor, and personal decency. I look forward to his continued counsel as Staff Secretary, and I appreciate his dedicated service to my Administration," President Bush stated.
Prior to joining the Administration, Mr. Yanes was a partner at the New York City law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell. He clerked for Judge John L. Coffey of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit from 1991 to 1993. Mr. Yanes received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
