Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate John S. Redd, of Georgia, to be Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Vice Admiral Redd most recently served as Executive Director of the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction. He previously served as Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, Iraq. His last assignment on active duty was as Director of Strategic Plans and Policy for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Earlier in his military career, Vice Admiral Redd commanded all U.S. Naval Forces in Central Command. He received his bachelor's degree from the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and conducted graduate studies in Uruguay. Vice Admiral Redd later received his master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School.
