Global Message

From remarks by President Bush, Mainz, Germany, 2/23/05

The reason world leaders are discussing Iran is because they were caught enriching uranium after signing a treaty saying they wouldn't enrich uranium.

Iran breached a contract with the international community.

American, German, French, and British friends have discussed a series of negotiating tactics to make sure the process moves forward without yielding on our universal demand.

The Iranian government should listen to the hopes and aspirations of the Iranian people. The voice of the people should determine policy.

For the sake of security and peace, world leaders will continue to discuss ways to make sure that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon. This goal is shared by Germany, France, Great Britain, and the United States. Working together, this can be accomplished.
