U.S. Continues Tsunami Relief Activities
President Bush has announced his intention to seek $950 million to support those recovering from the tsunamis in South East Asia, and to cover the costs of relief efforts thus far. To date, the United States has given $350 million in government funds in emergency relief assistance. Americans' private donations have been estimated at more than $700 million, and donations continue to rise. The United States remains committed to helping those affected by this disaster recover and rebuild.
