NATO Partners Build Schools in Afghanistan
Fact of the Day

The soldiers and civilians of the German Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) have made rehabilitating the school systems in Afghanistan a high priority. The German PRT and the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) are building two new schools together in the city of Feyzabad, where classes are currently held in simple tents or in the open air, and sanitary facilities are nonexistent. Each school will have 25 classrooms and cost about 150,000 euros (approx. $200,000 US) to build. When completed after about six months, the two schools together will instruct more than 1000 students.
