International Grants Benefit AIDS Research and Training
Fact of the Day
Institutions in China, Haiti, Russia and Uganda will receive $12 million in international grants to help build greater medical research and training capabilities as part of the campaign against AIDS. The Fogarty International Center, USAID, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will distribute the funds over five years as part of the International Clinical, Operational, and Health Services Research Training Award Program for AIDS and Tuberculosis. The program supports collaborative and multidisciplinary research training in developing countries where AIDS and tuberculosis are devastating the populations. These four cites will provide critical training needed in the design and conduct of AIDS and tuberculosis research as new procedures and technologies are introduced.
