U.S. Military Combats Terror in Africa

The United States is taking action against terrorists in Africa. As terrorists are finding it harder to operate in the Middle East and moving to Africa, the U.S. is responding by recruiting individuals with specialized knowledge of Africa, helping African nations train their troops, and negotiating with a number of countries to establish local U.S. bases. The U.S. European Command is also running AIDS clinics for those devastated by the disease. The United States is making a long-term commitment to stability in Africa and to addressing the problems that cause young men and women to embrace terrorist ideology.
