U.S. and Georgia Fight Terror Together
Fact of the Day

The United States is working closely with the government of Georgia to combat terrorism in the region. The United States is helping with the Train and Equip Program - which prepares security forces in this former Soviet republic to fight terrorism. The United States also has contributed $47 million over the past three years to improve border security and law enforcement. This week, the United States and Georgia announced PISCES, a fully-automated personal identification network that will further strengthen border security. Programs like these make it difficult for terrorists to operate in the region, including in the critical Pankisi Gorge.
