Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate M. Teel Bivins, of Texas, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Sweden. Senator Bivins has served as a member of the Texas State Senate since 1989. He currently serves as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and holds positions on the International Relations and Trade Committee, Jurisprudence Committee, and Government Organization Committee. In 1997 and in 2003, Senator Bivins was recognized as one of the "Ten Best Legislators" by Texas Monthly Magazine, and in 1999 he was named one of the most influential lawmakers in Austin by the Dallas Morning News. Before being elected to serve in public office, he worked as a businessman and cattleman in his home state of Texas. Senator Bivins graduated from Tulane University and earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University.
