Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his administration:
The President intends to nominate Rene Acosta of Virginia, to be Assistant Attorney General (Civil Rights). Mr. Acosta currently serves as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board. He previously served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. Earlier in his career, Mr. Acosta taught several classes on civil rights law, disability-based discrimination law and employment law at George Mason University. He also taught economics at Harvard. Mr. Acosta was honored this year with the Mexican-American Legal Defense Fund Excellence in Government Service Award for his work on language access issues. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Law School.
