President Bush Announced Nomination of DHS CIO

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to appoint one individual to serve as a member of his administration:

The President intends to appoint Steven I. Cooper of Virginia, to be the Chief Information Officer at the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Cooper is currently Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Information Integration in the Office of Homeland Security. Before joining the White House, Mr. Cooper served as the Chief Information Officer for Corporate Staffs and the Executive Director of Strategic Information Delivery at Corning Inc. Prior to his work at Corning, he served as the Director of Corporate Information Systems at Eli Lilly and Company. Mr. Cooper, a Certified Computer Professional (CCP), received his bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. He later went on to study at Duke University where he earned an Executive Education Certificate.
