President Bush Announced David Leitch Deputy Counsel and Deputy Assistant to the President
President George W. Bush today announced that he has named David G. Leitch Deputy Counsel and Deputy Assistant to the President.
Previously, Mr. Leitch worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as the Chief Counsel. More recently, Mr. Leitch was detailed to the Office of Management and Budget where he served as the Counsel to the Transition Planning Office for the Department of Homeland Security.
Before joining the administration, Mr. Leitch worked for the Washington law firm Hogan and Hartson L.L.P. He began his service in 1987, as an Associate and moved up through the ranks to partner in 1994. Mr. Leitch also spent time at the Department of Justice, as Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Senior Counsel. Earlier in his career, he served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and Circuit Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III.
Mr. Leitch is a graduate of Duke University and went on to earn his J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law.
