Nominations and Designations
President George W. Bush Today Announced His Intention to Nominate Two Individuals and His Intention to Designate Two Individuals to Serve in His Administration
The President intends to nominate Glen L. Bower to be United States Tax Court Judge for a term of 15 years. Bower has served as the Director of the Illinois Department of Revenue since 1999, and he was previously the Assistant to the Illinois Secretary of State. From 1990 to 1997, Bower was the Chairman of the United States Railroad Retirement Board. From 1979 to 1983, he was an elected member of the Illinois House of Representatives. Bower is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Illinois Institute at Chicagos Kent College of Law.
The President intends to nominate Peter DeShazo to be accorded the rank of Ambassador during his service as Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the Permanent Mission to the Organizations of American States and the Unites States Representative to the Inter-American Council for Integral Development.
The President intends to designate David Barrett Cohen to be the Special Representative to Meet and Consider in Good Faith Such Issues Affecting the Relationship Between the Northern Mariana Islands and the United States. Cohen is currently the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Insular Affairs at the Department of Interior.
The President intends to designate Thomas G. Bowman to be Acting Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs. Bowman is currently the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs.
