President Discusses Progress in Iraq  

September the 11, 2001, moved our country to grief -- and moved our country to action. We made a pledge that day, and we have kept it: We will bring the guilty to justice; we will take the fight to the enemy.

In thanking Ambassador Bremer Wednesday, President Bush said, "The nations in our coalition are determined to help the Iraqi people recover from years of tyranny. And we are determined to help build a free, and sovereign, and democratic nation." More Information »

    On September 12, President Bush called on the United Nations to live up to its founding purpose and confront the “grave and gathering danger” of Saddam Hussein’s outlaw regime. To do otherwise is to “hope against the evidence” – including the systematic defiance of 16 UN Security Council resolutions.
