Tony Snow
Former Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary
Robert Anthony “Tony” Snow served as Assistant to the President and Press Secretary since May 2006. In this role, he served as the primary spokesperson for the President, conducting the daily White House briefing and helping to communicate the President’s agenda to the White House Press Corps.
Prior to serving President Bush, Mr. Snow was the host of “The Tony Snow Show” on FOX News Radio and of “Weekend Live with Tony Snow” on FOX News Channel (FNC). He also served as a FNC political analyst. From 1996 – 2003, he hosted “FOX News Sunday,” the FOX Broadcasting network’s Sunday morning public affairs program.
Before joining FOX News, Snow was a nationally syndicated columnist with The Detroit News from 1993 to 2001 and USA Today from 1994 to 2000. Earlier in his career, he served as an editorial writer at The Virginian-Pilot; editorial page editor of The Daily Press; deputy editorial page editor of The Detroit News; and editorial page editor of The Washington Times. Snow’s career in journalism began in 1979 when he was an editorial writer for The Greensboro Record.
In 1991, Snow previously served in the White House for President George H. Bush as Deputy Assistant to the President for Communications and Director of Speechwriting, and later as Deputy Assistant to the President for Media Affairs.
Snow earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. A native of Berea, Kentucky, he grew up in Cincinnati and resided in Virginia with his wife Jill, son, and two daughters.
