Joseph W. Hagin II
Assitant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff

 

Joseph W. Hagin is Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff. The former Deputy Campaign Manager for Bush-Cheney 2000, Mr. Hagin also served in both the George H.W. Bush and Reagan administrations.

Mr. Hagin has extensive experience in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign, he was Vice President for Corporate Affairs of Chiquita Brands International, Inc. From 1993 until December 2000, Mr. Hagin was Chairman of the Portman for Congress campaign.

Mr. Hagin served for two years on the White House staff as Appointments Secretary to President George H.W. Bush from 1991 to 1993.

His corporate experience includes serving as Director of Public Affairs at Federated Department Stores, Inc. from 1985 to 1988.

In 1983, he became Assistant to the Vice President for Legislative Affairs and Congressional Relations to George H.W. Bush, serving in this capacity for two years, and was Personal Assistant to the Vice President from 1981-1983. Mr. Hagin had various responsibilities in the Bush for President and the Reagan-Bush political campaigns during the previous two years.

A native of Lexington, Kentucky and longtime resident of Cincinnati, he served on the boards of directors of Bethesda Hospitals, Inc, the Cincinnati Area chapter of the American Red Cross, The Cincinnati Fire Museum and as a Trustee of the Cincinnati County Day School. Mr. Hagin earned a bachelor’s degree in English at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
