Alan Gilbert
Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy

Alan Gilbert joined the White House Domestic Policy Council in May 2002, as Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy.

Mr. Gilbert has worked on health care issues for over a decade in Washington. In February 2001, President Bush appointed him to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislation under Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson. Prior to this appointment, he served for five years in the United States Senate as Chief Health Counsel to Senator Judd Gregg, Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Before his tenure in the Senate, he held several positions in the House of Representatives.
