Joseph Boardman -- Department of Transportation
Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration

Prior to being appointed to the Federal Railroad Administration, Joseph Boardman served as the Commissioner of Transportation for New York since July 1997. Before he became Commissioner, Mr. Boardman served as First Deputy Commissioner and as Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Public Transportation. Before joining the Department, Mr. Boardman held several transportation management positions in New York State. Currently, Mr. Boardman is President of the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials and Chairman of the Transportation Research Board Executive Committee. Mr. Boardman also serves as Chair of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standing Committee on Rail Transportation. Mr. Boardman received a masters of science degree in management science from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University.
