Van Buren: Situated in Kinderhook, New York, "Lindenwald" was President Martin Van Buren's retirement home. Built in 1797 and purchased by Van Buren in 1839, the home underwent extensive renovations and was converted into a Victorian mansion. Located in the Red Room


 

In keeping with the theme Home for the Holidays, replicas from the original family home plans of the nation's Presidents were created by White House staff members and displayed in a wintry forest throughout the rooms of the White House.
