OMB’S VUE-IT FEATURE INCREASES FEDERAL IT TRANSPARENCY

Washington, DC — Today, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released enhancements to VUE-IT, or Visualization for Understanding Expenditures in Information Technology. VUE-IT can be found at www.egov.gov.

VUE-IT is a tool for better understanding the Federal Information Technology investments through the lenses of the Federal Enterprise Architecture, Management Watch List, and High Risk List. Major enhancements include integration of:

  • High Risk Principle Criteria – Determination of whether the High Risk projects have a clear baseline and within 10% of their cost or schedule baseline.
  • Ability to export data displayed on pages in standard formats.
  • Links from detailed views of specific investments to agency posted business case reports (Exhibit 300s) for major investments.
  • Additional channels for users to provide feedback to OMB.

In addition, this new release addresses the previously identified issue with displaying investment amounts for certain high risk projects where the project in question was a partial component of a larger investment.

“OMB is committed to continually improving the transparency, quality, timeliness, and validity of the data and information we use as a tool in managing our Federal IT Portfolio. We are also committed to working with all stakeholders to identify such opportunities. This release is a step in that direction” said Karen Evans, Administrator for E-Government and Information Technology.
